(continued from interview ③) Beauty creator Yoo Ggaet-ip (real name Yoo Ye-rin) expressed her affection for her daughter Sol-ip.
On the episodes of TV CHOSUN's "X's private life" that aired on the 14th and 21st, Yoo Ggaet-ip shed tears several times over her remorse toward her daughter Sol-ip, whom she meets every two weeks through supervised visitation after divorcing Choi Go-gi, evoking sympathy. Even so, when asked, "Mom can't be with Sol-ip and can't take good care of her as a mother, so what does Sol-ip like about mom?" Sol-ip replied, "I can see that she earns money to buy tasty things," showing deep understanding of Yoo Ggaet-ip's feelings and touching viewers.
In a phone interview with OSEN on the 23rd, Yoo Ggaet-ip spoke about her daughter Sol-ip, saying, "After the divorce, at first she cried when we separated, but after that happened repeatedly she must have adapted. The number of times she cries has gradually decreased, and now she says, 'Mom, see you the week after next,' and waves while smiling," revealing that she has grown more mature.
She said, "I was always alone at home. Each time that happened, Sol-ip thought of me as always alone and somewhat pitiful. She would say, 'Mom, don't look at me pityingly! Mom likes being alone,' like that. Now, when we meet I'm often with my boyfriend, and she actually likes it more. She thinks it doesn't seem like mom is alone anymore and that someone has come into my life who can take care of me," conveying a bittersweet misunderstanding.
She continued, "When I was Sol-ip's age I don't think I would have thought or been able to do that; she's so mature, I should say. Seeing that made me feel even more sorry. If she were still a baby and acted like a child, cried and threw tantrums, that would have been difficult in its own way, but I would have thought, 'Well, Sol-ip is still a baby.' The biggest feeling is just that I'm sorry. I feel sorry and grateful," she said, upset.
When asked what kind of mother she wants to be for Sol-ip, Yoo Ggaet-ip said, "I used to say I wanted to be a mom who is like a friend, but now I'm not really aiming to be completely friend-like. Besides being a friend, I want to be someone who is simply comfortable to be with. That could be a friend, but I want to be someone who isn't awkward or uncomfortable," she confessed.
She said, "We're not living together anyway. If Sol-ip lives in Suwon now but later moves somewhere else, or goes to Joo-eun's family home in Jeju, considering all those possible situations, it could be that we won't see each other for a long time. If she thinks of me then, I just hope it makes her feel good," she said.
Yoo Ggaet-ip reiterated her grievance with a laugh, saying, "Because I'm alone, people say, 'How pitiful,' but I don't want people to think of me as a pitiful mother. I'm not pitiful." She explained, "When there are two people at home and you don't talk, the house is quiet. Sol-ip's house has a dog, but I had no one. I was always alone, so that house must have seemed very big. It felt so quiet, so she probably felt that way more," and showed affection, saying, "So when she thinks of me, I just hope it makes her feel good."
