In 'The Absolute Value of Romance,' Kim Hyang-gi was caught in real time while writing a boys' love (BL) work targeting Cha Hak-yeon and other teachers.
In the Coupang Play series 'The Absolute Value of Romance' (screenplay by Lee Min-ju; directed by Lee Tae-gon, Kim Jun-hyung; produced by Pungnyeonjeonpasang, Borderless Film), released on the 24th, Yeoi-ju (played by Kim Hyang-gi), who, though tormented by Ga Woo-su's (Cha Hak-yeon) after-school math class, was absorbed in writing a BL work, found herself in trouble.
Ga Woo-su could not contain his anger toward Yeoi-ju. With a mock exam math score of 4 and other entanglements, his disposition was twisted. Physical education teacher Jeong Ki-jeon (played by Son Jeong-hyeok) wanted to bring Yeoi-ju to his after-school class, but Ga Woo-su refused to allow it.
Choi Go-ya (played by Kim So-hee) lamented for her friend Yeoi-ju, saying, "Math is such a pervert. I didn't think he was like that, but he's quick to give demerits and even has after-school [classes]." The other model students could not understand why Yeoi-ju had come to this place at all. Also, Yeoi-ju left Ga Woo-su's math homework to hang out with friends and was severely scolded by Ga Woo-su.
Ga Woo-su did not hold back his barbs, saying, "What did I say about math on my first day here? I said it was a discipline of thinking. You must have taken it lightly; you probably still are. I wanted you to think. I didn't know you would be this hopeless. I'm disappointed." Yet Yeoi-ju planned to project Ga Woo-su's lines onto the character Joo Si-on, who faces Choi Yoon in her BL novel.
However, while writing BL in the library, Yeoi-ju felt something amiss. For example, the lotion scent of an unpleasant person — a mathematical kind of feeling, she thought. With a startled feeling, Yeoi-ju turned her head and screamed at seeing Ga Woo-su standing there, but Ga Woo-su had already seen her writing.
Yeoi-ju feigned innocence, but Ga Woo-su said, "The literature student who appears as Choi Yoon is a rude student, Yoon Dong-ju; the math genius Joo Si-on is me; the simple, ignorant physical education student who always relies on body shots is Jeong Ki-jeon; and the Japanese transfer student who only has money, Han Jae-min, is Noda-ju, right?" He said, "How can you write something like this? Delete it." Yeoi-ju was despairing at the threat that he would call her parents if she did not delete the writing.
But the next day Ga Woo-su's attitude changed. Having learned the BL genre, he said, "You are hopeless. How, why on earth am I not the protagonist?" and added, "In that novel, Yoon Dong-ju and Jeong Ki-jeon will end up together. I should be the protagonist. Rewrite it." Yeoi-ju said, "Teacher, you're the supporting guy, right?" but Ga Woo-su did not accept that.
Yeoi-ju retorted, "Then the story goes off the rails, doesn't it?" and Ga Woo-su said, "Then delete it," forcing her to choose. Unable to delete her precious writing, Yeoi-ju said in a dying voice, "Then I'll write it and have it checked," and with an incredulous expression added, "You're not angry because it's BL, you're angry because you're not the protagonist, right?"
