Singer Hong Seo-beom and Cho Gap-kyung's son is embroiled in allegations of an affair during his partner's pregnancy and failure to pay child support, and the appeal in the damages lawsuit filed by his former wife A will be held today (23rd).
On the 23rd, the Family Division 1 of Daejeon Family Court will resume arguments in the appeal of the damages lawsuit filed by A against B, the son of Hong Seo-beom and Cho Gap-kyung, for dissolution of a de facto marriage.
Earlier, the son of Hong Seo-beom and Cho Gap-kyung married A in 2024, but their marriage ended in divorce after eight months. A claimed that the reason for the breakup was the son's infidelity.
The trial court found B responsible for dissolving the de facto marriage and ordered him to pay 30 million won in consolation money and 800,000 won per month in child support until the child reaches adulthood. However, B appealed, saying the consolation payment and child support are insufficient.
Meanwhile, the couple Hong Seo-beom and Cho Gap-kyung bowed their heads in an official statement, saying, "We have not intervened in the divorce process because we felt we should respect our adult son's privacy and autonomy. As a result, we were largely unable to closely examine our child's faults as parents. We sincerely reflect on failing to set an example as public figures."
The couple Hong Seo-beom and Cho Gap-kyung also said regarding future responses, "Although the appeal is ongoing, through our son's legal representative we will strictly instruct that obligations under the first trial ruling, such as child support and consolation money, be promptly fulfilled."
