Singer and musical actor Bae Da-hae shared unexpected family news after moving to Gangnam. It was revealed that she is living in the new house not just with her husband Lee Jang-won but also with a 100-year-old maternal grandfather, drawing attention.
On the 23rd, Bae Da-hae's YouTube channel "Dahae-neun Dahae" posted a video titled "daily life with a 100-year-old roommate." In the video, Bae Da-hae introduced a special cohabitant along with news of her recent move.
She said, "I got a roommate. I ended up living with a 100-year-old maternal grandfather," surprising viewers. She added the reason, saying, "The grandfather lived alone for 30 to 40 years, and we were worried about him being alone at night, so after discussing with family we decided to move in together." Above all, she added the practical circumstances of Lee Jang-won's family, saying, "My husband is also the eldest son." With the in-laws living in another region, the two naturally came to care for him together.
The three currently share living space in one house. Bae Da-hae cheerfully described, "The grandfather uses two large rooms, and we use three small rooms," and said, "It's almost like living in small rooms, like a guesthouse."
Fortunately, the care system was already well established. She said, "There are people who help with basic things like meals and hospital transportation," and added, "We share living space and naturally live together."
Above all, the 100-year-old maternal grandfather's health drew attention. He is relatively spry, able to use a smartphone and even call a taxi by himself. However, she explained that his knees are not good, so he uses a cane or wheelchair when going out.
Bae Da-hae candidly shared, "Having lived alone all my life, then living with my husband as two, and now living with someone again felt awkward at first," but added, "I'm gradually adapting, and on Saturdays the three of us spend time together, which is surprisingly fun," adding warmth. She also did not hide her affection for the maternal grandfather, saying, "He buys us snacks and calls me affectionately." It is an update on a new family daily life that goes beyond generational differences.
