The MBC variety show Radio Star, broadcast on the 22nd, was staged as a "Papa GO! ALL Daddy PROJECT" special, and Ki Tae-young, who appeared that day, candidly revealed his affection for his family and his modest spending habits.
Ki Tae-young said, "I don't shop much. I don't have many occasions to spend money, and I don't drink or smoke. I don't go out and spend money," opening up. He continued, "I only get myself gifts on birthdays or anniversaries," revealing a thoroughly self-disciplined side. In particular, he said, "When things are on sale I buy T-shirts for 6,000 won or 8,000 won. It's fine to wear a 6,000-won T-shirt normally," and added, "I take care of my body so that even wearing jeans and a cotton T-shirt looks fine," surprising everyone.
When Kim Gu Ra asked, "How much is your monthly allowance?" Ki Tae-young replied, "I calculated and found I spent 1 million won a year. I spend about 1 million won a year personally. Earlier, his wife Yoo Jin also mentioned the couple's frugal spending habits on her YouTube channel. When the producers asked, "Don't you at least have one expensive thing?" Their daughters, Ro-hee and Ro-rin, are known to attend an international school in Songdo, Incheon. That school is known to charge about 600 million won per student from kindergarten through high school graduation, which drew major attention. Based on the two children, the education costs alone are considerable.
Nevertheless, Ki Tae-young said, "Even if I don't buy it, my wife wants to give it. I really don't need it," and Yoo Jin said, "I wish you would do it a little," showing a realistic married couple chemistry and eliciting laughter.
