(following interview ①) Takuya shared behind-the-scenes stories about his appearance on Mr. House Husband 2.
Recently, Takuya met with OSEN for an interview at his agency Different Company's building in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, in the morning, and spoke about reactions after Mr. House Husband 2.
He debuted in Korea's entertainment industry in 2012 as part of the idol group Cross Gene, and from 2014 he made an impression appearing as Japan's representative on Non-Summit. After that, following Reporter 25, he recently joined KBS2's variety program Mr. House Husband 2 (hereafter Mr. House Husband 2), marking his first challenge in an observational variety show, where he revealed not only his daily life but also family stories.
When asked about the reason for joining Mr. House Husband 2, Takuya said, "Isn't it an observational variety show? In that respect, I definitely felt pressure. However, I thought I could show parts of myself that I hadn't been able to show before through this program, and I gained great courage from that."
He continued, "Actually, given the nature of the show, it's a program where the family is revealed. But in Japan, it's very rare for family members to appear together on variety shows. So while I felt pressure, my family probably felt even more pressure than I did. Although we have already filmed, I feel great gratitude and apology toward my family," conveying his sincerity.
He added, "Before filming Mr. House Husband 2, I asked my family if they could appear together, and my mother said, 'If it will help you, let's do it,' and willingly joined me. I feel grateful for that." He laughed and said, "There inevitably are some setups and roles, but my mother seems to play her role even better than I do. She's almost at an actor's level."
He also spoke about changed reactions and perceived popularity after appearing on Mr. House Husband 2. He said, "Those who have known me for a long time know what kind of person I am, but originally I didn't use SNS much and rarely checked comments. These days I can check reactions more easily, and since I run a personal YouTube channel I do check comments."
He added, "Lately there have been people who recognize me. Should I say they're from my mother's generation? Reactions in daily life have definitely changed. At restaurants, older women even give me extra service. I've also received messages from people around me. Celebrity friends and friends in Japan said they couldn't watch it on TV but watched it on YouTube." He added, "Beyond YouTube, my variety activities have led some people to newly get to know me, and because there's a bit of an age range among fans, many send messages saying they don't know me as their son but see me as a young man who is facing reality and living well."
