"Welcome, First Time in Korea?"'s singer Byeol deeply resonates as Haha's wife and mother of three.
Today (23), MBC every1's "Welcome, First Time in Korea?" (abbreviated as "Welcome, Korea") will reveal the first day of a six-member extended family's trip to Korea from Montreal, Canada. Among them, Canadian broadcaster Julien Kang, Montreal-based YouTuber FullSeoul, and Byeol join as special guests.
Among them, Byeol, a mother of three children, is expected to be deeply engaged with the stories of the extended family participants. Byeol previously married singer and broadcaster Haha and had three children: Dream, Soul, and Song. She was especially delighted by the Canadian family's appearance because "the youngest daughter Song's boyfriend recently went to Canada to study abroad and started a long-distance relationship."
The Canadian extended family's story was also unusual. Of the four siblings, three were known to have a rare disease that could cause them to lose their sight when they become adults. For that reason, the parents chose Korea as part of a world trip for the whole family so their children could take in as much of the world with their eyes and memories as possible before losing their sight.
The choice of Korea was greatly influenced by the Netflix animated film K-pop Demon Hunters (abbreviated as K-DH). The children became interested in Korean culture after watching K-DH and wanted to experience scenes from the film in real life. Their first meal in Korea was also chosen as the "K-DH set meal," featuring kimbap, ramen and other dishes they had only seen in the film.
However, the meal for the family with four siblings was not entirely peaceful. The youngest had complaints about the food. The mother disciplined the child strictly, and Byeol, as a mother of three, empathized deeply, creating a heartwarming moment. In addition, when the Canadian children kept using chopsticks even though the ramen they tried for the first time was spicy, she remarked, "Our kids are also hooked on spicy ramen," and "Song buries her nose in her food," the report said.
