Singer and actor Kim Hyun-joong, a former member of the group SS501, was moved by a long-time fan's gift he received in everyday life.
Kim Hyun-joong recently posted a photo taken at a snack bar in Jeju on his personal social media. The released photo showed the scene of the Jeju snack bar he visited again after several years and two 10,000-won bills with a post-it that read "Enjoy your meal."
In relation to this, he said, "The snack bar in Jeju that I visited again after several years," and explained the situation at the time, "I shared tteokbokki and fish cake soup with my family, and I packed the remaining sundae liver for my pet dog Matic."
In particular, Kim Hyun-joong added, "The owner, still warm-hearted, said 'give it to the dog' and generously packed the sundae liver. As I was leaving after paying, an unexpected thing happened. The owner recognized me and took two 10,000-won bills out of an old wallet and handed them to me," adding his surprise.
It turned out that "A fan had previously left them, saying to treat me to a meal with this when I came again." He added, "It was a promise kept for so long that the post-it had faded with time. Kim Hyun-joong debuted as a member of SS501 and enjoyed great popularity. After leaving the group and pursuing acting, he was embroiled in controversy in 2014 over allegations of assault and paternity disputes with an ex-girlfriend. In 2020, six years later, a court ruled that the assault claims were false and ordered the ex-girlfriend to pay him 100 million won in compensation. Afterwards, Kim Hyun-joong expressed his willingness to take responsibility regarding paternity, and the personal controversy was settled for the time being.
He later married a non-celebrity wife in 2022, and the couple had a son the same year and formed a family. Recently, Kim Hyun-joong met fans through solo activities as a singer and joint concerts with former SS501 members including Heo Yeong-saeng and Kim Kyu-jong.
