The group ITZY is making a surprise comeback with the new mini album "Motto" while continuing the hot momentum of their world tour.
JYP Entertainment on the 22nd released the trailer video, track list and promotion scheduler for ITZY's new mini album "Motto" simultaneously through its official social media channels. This new album is a meaningful release presented about six months after they released "TUNNEL VISION" in November of last year.
The trailer video that was revealed first overwhelms the viewer with surreal and sensuous aesthetics. Scenes appear in sequence showing the members perched on precarious objects such as a hoop, a sphere, a horse and a fire hydrant, including Ryu Jin casually leaning against a tilted limousine suspended in midair. Then the five members climb a ladder that descends in front of them to gather in one place, and the rails of the ladder they traverse form the letters of the album title "Motto," creating an intense ending that leaves a deep impact.
The video was directed by Léa Esmaili, a director known for capturing precise composition and narrative, and perfectly realized ITZY's unique and experimental visual world.
According to the released track list, the new album "Motto" includes the title track of the same name, "Glitch", and "you And I". Also included are the five distinct solo songs first revealed during the group's ongoing third world tour that received explosive responses: Yeji's "Pocket", Lia's "Asylum", Ryu Jin's "LOOK", Chaeryeong's "Undefined", and Yuna's "Tangerine", making a total of eight well-filled tracks. Hitmakers representing domestic and international scenes such as Shim Eunji, Lee Woo-min "collapsedone", KASS, and Justin Reinstein participated in large numbers to raise the album's completeness.
The comeback promotion schedule is also rich. Starting on the 27th with concept photos, ITZY will sequentially open individual "What is your Motto" content, album spoilers, music video teasers and more. On the album release day, May 18, at 5 p.m., they plan to communicate warmly with MIDZY, their global fandom, through a countdown live. Ahead of that, today (the 22nd) at 1 p.m. they will pre-release the U.S. physical album and the "Motto" remix version to heat up globally.
Meanwhile, ITZY has recently once again demonstrated their value as "performance queens" through their third world tour. The track "THAT'S A NO NO", which debuted at the Seoul performance, sparked a craze for the so-called "daechu no-no" dance challenge and dominated short-form algorithms. Riding that momentum, after successfully wrapping performances in Melbourne and Sydney on the 17th and 19th, they will enter comeback activities buoyed by the tour's box-office wind.
ITZY's growth is reflected in the new mini album "Motto", which will be officially released through major music sites worldwide at 6 p.m. on May 18.
