"Dolsing N Mosol" overturned the competitive landscape in the same time slot against "Heart Signal 5."
On the 22nd, according to ratings tracker Nielsen Korea, MBC Every1's entertainment program "Dolsing N Mosol" recorded 0.557% among women aged 25-49 in the Seoul metropolitan area. That figure is nearly double Channel A's dating entertainment program "Heart Signal Season 5," which recorded 0.253% in the same time slot.
Women aged 25-49 are classified as the main preferred target audience for advertisers in the recent broadcasting industry. Among dating programs competing in the same time slot, "Dolsing N Mosol" has therefore pulled far ahead of "Heart Signal 5."
"Heart Signal 5" is the fifth season of Channel A's flagship dating entertainment program "Heart Signal," considered the originator of the "dating show" that predicts couple pairings through cohabitation of young men and women. "Dolsing N Mosol" is a new dating entertainment program that depicts stories taking place inside a dating boarding school under the concept of meetings between divorced women and single men.
Coincidentally, "Dolsing N Mosol" and "Heart Signal 5" faced off in the same time slot at 10 p.m. on Tuesday. Among the two dating programs, initial predictions favored "Heart Signal 5." However, an upset occurred in which advertisers' preferred target audience favored "Dolsing N Mosol."
Initially, in the first week of broadcast, "Dolsing N Mosol" began by taking a slight lead. Entering the second week, "Dolsing N Mosol" widened the gap and appears to be appealing to its core target audience. In particular, "Dolsing N Mosol" exceeded 1% among viewers in their 30s of both genders, ranking first and second including terrestrial broadcasters.
A broadcasting official said, "We believe that actual viewing continuity and content immersion, rather than the initial pre-broadcast buzz, acted as the background for the reversal in ratings." Attention is turning more closely to the future performance of "Dolsing N Mosol."
