BTS is literally continuing an "infinite sprint" on the Billboard charts.
On the 21st (local time), according to the latest chart released by U.S. music outlet Billboard (April 25 issue), the title track "SWIM" from BTS's fifth full-length album Arirang (ARIRANG) set a grand record by ranking No. 1 for four consecutive weeks simultaneously on both the Global 200 and the Global (excluding U.S.) charts.
BTS's achievement this time goes beyond simply topping the charts. Excluding the intro themed on the majestic bell sound of King Seongdeok's new bell, all 13 vocal tracks included on the album showed staying power by firmly holding places on the Global 200 chart. In particular, on the Global (excluding U.S.) chart, every track landed within the top 50, once again proving BTS's unrivaled influence in the global music market.
Their performance on the main chart the Hot 100 is also dazzling. The title track "SWIM" held a top 10 position at No. 10, while as many as four songs—including "Body to Body" (No. 69), "2.0" (No. 88) and "Hooligan" (No. 90)—have remained on the chart for a month. The album Arirang also rose to No. 3 on the main album chart the Billboard 200, showing balanced strength in both digital and physical sales.
Looking at the detailed chart results, BTS's all-around qualities stand out even more. They ranked No. 1 for four consecutive weeks on digital song sales; they placed No. 2 on top album sales, No. 3 on vinyl albums, No. 4 on top streaming albums and No. 5 on Artist 100, occupying top positions across major indicators and cementing their reputation as a 21st century pop icon.
The world tour BTS WORLD TOUR "ARIRANG," which spectacularly opened on the 9th at the main stadium of Goyang Sports Complex, will be held in 34 cities worldwide for a total of 85 shows. This is the largest number of shows ever for a solo tour by a Korean artist. Having already connected with more than 240,000 spectators through the Goyang and Tokyo performances, BTS now heads to the United States. Beginning with the performances at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa on the 25th–26th and the 28th, they will open the full-scale North American leg. With long-term dominance on the Billboard charts and a world tour of unprecedented scale, the world is watching how far BTS's "Arirang" myth will spread.<
