The group CORTIS unveiled a special video that allows viewers to fully appreciate the dynamic choreography of their new song REDRED.
At 9 p.m. on the 21st, CORTIS (Martin, James, Juhun, Sunghyun, Geonho) presented a conceptual performance film for the title track REDRED from their mini album 2 on HYBE Labels' official YouTube channel. While the official music video released the day before focused on the members' everyday scenes roaming streets and old shops, this video concentrates solely on their flashy performance to deliver visual pleasure.
This video unfolds against the backdrop of a shopping center that served as the main set for the music video. Ordinary spaces such as outdoor corridors, staircases, rooftop ladders, and crosswalks were transformed into elements that complete a tasteful composition. In particular, over the five members who continuously change formations and dance on the crosswalk, dynamic camera moving and bold zoom-in·zoom-out techniques were added to visually maximize the raw energy characteristic of the new song.
Point choreography that intuitively brings out the meaning of the lyrics also draws attention. In line with witty lyrics such as that's red-red, which means warning, and palang-gwi palang-gwi, representative moves include drawing an X with both arms or fluttering the hands around the ears. The broad appeal that anyone can easily follow combines with CORTIS's signature hip group choreography, hinting at another massive global short-form challenge craze following their mini album 1.
Above all, this choreography once again proved the members' capabilities as young creators by crediting all members as co-choreographers. The members researched various genres such as 1990s aerobics, shuffle dance, and tectonic and built the dance framework themselves. At the first REDRED release party held on the 20th at Yes24 Live Hall in Seoul, they shared a behind-the-scenes story: "At first there were sections that were stuck, but after final mixing we heard the shattering sound that brought out the song's charm and drew inspiration, and the choreography work progressed rapidly."
Heating up comeback momentum with overwhelming performances, CORTIS will appear one after another on various music shows starting with Mnet's M Countdown on the 23rd. They will then officially release mini album 2 GREENGREEN, which contains six solid tracks including the main title track, on May 4, and on the same day at 8 p.m. they will hold their second release party at SFactory in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, where they will premiere live stages of the album tracks.
