"I want to ask my 20s self, why didn't you wear sunscreen?"
The Hollywood star Julia Styles (45), who gained worldwide fame for 'Ten Things I Hate About You,' drew attention by offering regret-tinged advice on aging and skin care.
Julia Styles recently uploaded a "get ready with me (Get Ready with Me)" video with a beauty brand to her social media, taking time to reflect on how her skin has changed with age and on her past.
In the released video, Styles showed a natural beauty that belied her 45 years while honestly admitting she had neglected skin care in her youth. She said, "I want to say one thing to my 20s self. Please always wear sunscreen," and added, "Why on earth didn't you? Why did you sit out in the sun for so long during the hottest time of the day?" — a self-reproachful question that provoked laughter and sympathy.
Styles also drew attention by mentioning the "irony" her skin experienced in her 30s. She said, "There is a strange period in your 30s when you think, 'Wow, my acne is gone! My skin is really clear,'" and confessed, "But exactly two seconds after you think that, bam! wrinkles show up," describing the "realistic" aging process.
But she did not view wrinkles only negatively. Styles said, "It's okay. It should be considered a good thing that we grow older and get wrinkles," showing a mature attitude that accepts aging as a natural blessing.
Julia Styles, who rose to teen star status in the late 1990s and early 2000s with films such as 'Ten Things I Hate About You' and 'Save the Last Dance,' has since built a solid filmography by co-starring opposite Matt Damon in the "Bourne" series and appearing in the drama Dexter, among other works. Recently she has expanded into directing, taking the megaphone, among other areas.
