"Dance prodigy" Nahaeun's new girl group Unchild (UNCHILD) took its first step.
On May 16, Rado, who is set to marry Apink's Yoon Bomi, introduced his second daughter to the world. Named UNCHILD (Unchild), the group is composed of "dance prodigy" Nahaeun, Park Ye-eun, who gained recognition through "Island 2", and Hiki, Tina, Ako, and Lee Bon.
Unchild chose a team name that combines the prefix "un-", which overturns ordinariness, with "child(person)", meaning someone not confined by any standard. As indicated by their symbol, the tree frog, they break standardized molds and declare a departure from existing fixed notions and norms, presenting a new paradigm for the fifth generation.
The debut single "We Are UNCHILD" is an album that marks Unchild's meaningful first start, fully expressing the group's ambition to refuse "ordinariness" with the prefix "un-" and sublimate their unique personalities into special energy without being bound by predetermined molds.
The debut track "UNCHILD" is an electronic pop song featuring a garage-influenced sound, carrying a bold message of lightly overcoming the speed bumps of fear and moving toward a new adventure. Rough electric guitar riffs and psychedelic electronic sounds combine to complete Unchild's intense declaration of intent.
The members directly participated in the choreography for the dance break sections, raising the performance's completeness. Nahaeun said, "Our team has good teamwork; when we dance on stage, things like eye contact will look noticeably different," citing performance strengths as part of Unchild's appeal.
STAYC, who achieved the "miracle of a small and medium" is Unchild's direct senior. The members said, "Senior Yoon from STAYC sent a coffee truck, which helped us a lot," adding, "Senior Yoon told us, 'When we debuted there were no seniors at our agency, so it was hard; I hope you lean on each other as much as we did.'"
Unchild is also Rado's second daughter, the hitmaker's second act. Park Ye-eun said, "Producer Rado told each of us personally, and to me he said since my health is weak, take good care of it. At first I was worried, but now I'm looking forward to it. He said things like that." Rado also gave strength by writing long letters to the members.
There are many labels—STAYC's younger sister group, Rado's second daughter, Nahaeun's girl group—but the moniker Unchild wants is "Unchild, which put an exclamation point on the world." Unchild said, "It's unfamiliar but something you'll want to keep seeing and hearing," as they energetically took their first step into the music industry.
