Actor Lee Seo-jin talked about his relationship with Kim Kwang-kyu.
On the 21st broadcast, KBS2's 'Morning Yard' corner 'With the famous partner' featured actors Lee Seo-jin and Ko A Sung, who are working together in the play "Uncle Vanya."
In "Uncle Vanya," one of the four major plays by Russian literary master Anton Chekhov, Lee Seo-jin plays the lead role Vanya, and Ko A Sung plays his niece Sonya.
Lee Seo-jin, who marked his 27th anniversary since debut, said it had been about 10 years since he last appeared on KBS since "Come On In." Lee Seo-jin said, "I've never done this kind of morning show before. The enthusiastic cheers from the audience mothers are overwhelming." In particular, Lee Seo-jin joked about appearing on 'Morning Yard,' saying, "I tried not to appear if possible," and Ko A Sung said, "I nagged him until he came with me."
Lee Seo-jin said, "It has been nearly 30 years since my debut, but this is my first time in theater. At first I said I wouldn't do it, but after meeting with the production team I liked their impressions, and office staff and those around me strongly recommended it. They said it seemed like a good opportunity and insisted I should do it. I just didn't want to do it." He added, "As I get older, my thinking changes; I try to listen to and judge young people's opinions. Young staff recommended it would be good if they did it, so I decided to appear in the play."
Lee Seo-jin selected Kim Kwang-kyu as the first of his "life's defining relationships." Lee Seo-jin said, "I didn't really like that guy. We met on set, and even if you don't know someone well, you'd be polite at first, but he spoke casually. Being from Busan, he said in dialect that he 'gets cursed at.' So I wondered why he spoke informally. I didn't like him much, but in the next project the director knew I didn't like Kim Kwang-kyu and asked for permission to cast him. After meeting him, he was immature and funny. That's how we became close."
About setting up a blind date for Kim Kwang-kyu, Lee Seo-jin said, "I feel very sorry for the woman. I think I begged him to meet her, but actually he didn't really want to meet her," drawing laughter. In particular, Lee Seo-jin revealed about Kim Kwang-kyu's inability to marry, saying, "He's immature, has high standards and is picky. He seems kind but is a difficult person."
Appearing via video, Kim Kwang-kyu said, "I became close with Lee Seo-jin while appearing in a drama. He grumbles a lot but takes care of you accordingly. He nags me to dress better and then gifts me clothes to wear. In the next life I want to be born as you, and I want you to be born as me. Live boldly as a bald man."
