Late actress Gu Bon-im died of nasopharyngeal cancer seven years ago.
Gu Bon-im passed away at about 4:50 a.m. on April 21, 2019. She was 50. The late actress was diagnosed with nasopharyngeal cancer in 2018 and died after battling the disease for more than a year.
The nasopharynx is the uppermost part of the pharynx, extending from the base of the skull to the soft palate, and nasopharyngeal cancer refers to a malignant tumor that develops there. Actor Kim Woo-bin also battled this disease.
However, Gu Bon-im ultimately succumbed to the illness. Many colleagues and fans expressed their condolences for Gu Bon-im, who died too soon.
A graduate of the Seoul Institute of the Arts' department of theater, the late actress joined the theater company "Michu" in 1992 and was active on various theatrical stages and in films.
She gave memorable performances in films such as "Kill the Wife," "Hong Ban-jang," "The Romantic President," "200 Pounds Beauty," "A Bloody Aria," "Le Grand Chef," "I Am the King," and "A Werewolf Boy." She also appeared in "Surgeon Bong Dal-hee," "Wife's Class Club," "I Want It," "Princess Prosecutor," "Master's Sun," "Hotel King," "Bring It On, Ghost," and "Medal of Honor Oh Soon-nam."
