Singer Daesung shook the stage at Coachella, the world's largest music festival, with Korean "heung," firmly imprinting the stature of a "performance powerhouse" on the global stage.
Daesung appeared as a full Big Bang on the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival (hereinafter Coachella) held in Indio, California, on the 20th (Korea time), capping the outdoor theater stage's finale and thrilling local audiences.
At a global festival dominated by hip hop and pop, Daesung made a bold move by choosing his solo songs "Handochoga" and "Nal bwa gwisun." Daesung's unique "K-trot," staged against bright Korean subtitles with no English translation, delivered a fresh shock to local audiences and instantly transformed the venue into a huge "K-party."
Daesung's characteristically refreshing vocal power and playful stage manner shone. When overseas fans sang "Handochoga" in unison, Daesung joked, "How did you know and sing along?" which drew laughter, and on the "Nal bwa gwisun" stage he completely won over the audience with lively communication mixing Korean and English.
He, who has already been loved for original performances that combined trot and humor since his solo activities in Japan, was said to have fully demonstrated the stage command he honed through last year's Asia tour and other events on the big Coachella stage.
After a successful performance, Daesung conveyed his overwhelming feelings through his agency R&D Company (D-Label). He said, "There were many joyful moments, but above all, the fact that we were able to announce a new beginning for Big Bang resonated the most."
In particular, Daesung drew attention by defining this activity not as a simple comeback but as a "restart." He said, "I will work so that we can continue to greet you in even better ways. I hope you will stay with us to the end of our journey," and did not forget to offer a sincere plea to fans.
In his 20th year since debut, the music industry's attention is focused on the "pleasant twist" he will show this year and Big Bang's new journey.<
