Singer Daesung shook the stage of Coachella, the world's largest music festival, with Korea's "heung," firmly imprinting the stature of a "performance powerhouse" on the global audience.
Daesung appeared as part of Big Bang at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival (hereinafter Coachella) held in Indio, California, on the 20th (Korea time), closing out the outdoor theater stage as the finale and sending the local audience into a frenzy.
In a global festival where hip hop and pop dominate, Daesung took the bold step of selecting his solo songs "Hando Chogwa" and "Nal bwa gwisun." Daesung's unique "K-trot," unfolding against a backdrop of clear Korean subtitles without English translation, delivered a fresh shock to the local audience and instantly transformed the venue into a massive "K-party."
Daesung's characteristically refreshing vocal power and playful stage manner shone. When overseas fans sang along in unison to "Hando Chogwa," Daesung joked, "How did you know and sing along?" drawing laughter, and on the "Nal bwa gwisun" stage he completely captured the audience's hearts with cheerful communication mixing Korean and English.
Already beloved since his solo activities in Japan for his original performances that combined trot and humor, he is said to have fully demonstrated the stage dominance he honed through last year's Asia tour and other experiences on the big Coachella stage.
After a successful performance, Daesung conveyed his overwhelming emotions through his agency R&D Company (D-Label). He said, "There were many joyful moments, but above all, the fact that we were able to announce a new beginning for Big Bang resonated most strongly."
In particular, Daesung drew attention by defining this activity not as a simple comeback but as a "restart." He said, "I will work hard so that we can continue to greet you with better appearances. I hope you will stay with us until the end of our journey," not forgetting his heartfelt plea to fans.
Marking his 20th anniversary since debut this year, the music industry is focusing on the "pleasant twist" he will show and Big Bang's new journey.<
