Kang Mina openly expressed her honest feelings about not joining IOI.
On the 21st at CGV Yongsan I'Park Mall in Seoul, a highlight screening and press conference for the Netflix series "Girigo" were held. The event was hosted by Park Kyunglim, and director Park Yunseo, Jeon Soyoung, Kang Mina, Hyun Woo Seok, Lee Hyoje and Roh Jae Won attended.
The Netflix series "Girigo" is about high school students who are warned of sudden death by the curse of the wish-granting application "Girigo" and struggle to escape that curse.
Rising actors Jeon Soyoung, Kang Mina, Baek Sunho, Hyun Woo Seok and Lee Hyoje play high school students entangled in the "Girigo" curse — "Seah", "Nari", "Gunwoo", "Hajun" and "Hyunguk" — delivering spirited performances, while Jeon Sonee and Roh Jae Won play shamans "Haetsal" and "Bangul" who work with them to lift the curse, showing a strong presence.
That day Kang Mina explained, "Nari is always someone who attracts attention at school. She has a very strong possessive streak, so if she wants something she tries to get it by any means."
She continued, "Actually, before filming this project I had kept my hair short for several years. I prepared long straight hair for Nari. Internally, I am actually afraid of horror. I'm very easily frightened and usually can't watch it, but on set I prepared the mentality that I wouldn't so much as blink."
In particular, Kang Mina recently drew regret when her planned joining of the group IOI for a May comeback marking its 10th anniversary fell through due to scheduled acting commitments. In response, Kang Mina cautiously began, "To be honest, not being able to participate in the 10th anniversary project was a decision I deeply regret."
She added with a smile, "But I think my decision was to focus on the acting work that was already scheduled. I genuinely feel very sorry to the fans. I'm concentrating on my acting so I can show a better side of myself, so I hope you view me kindly and supportively."
