Star instructor Kim Mi-kyung shared an update saying she lost 15kg after a comment from her daughter prompted her to change.
On the 20th, a video titled "The real reason lifelong short-cut Kim Mi-kyung grew her hair after turning 60" was posted on the YouTube channel MKTV Kim Mi-kyung TV.
In the video, Kim Mi-kyung explained the reason she recently transformed to long hair. She said, "When I look at the comments, many say, 'Why are you growing your hair?' or 'Short hair suits you better,'" and "I especially remember comments saying people over 60 cut their hair. It sounded like they meant it's an age when long hair doesn't suit you," she confessed.
After maintaining a short cut while lecturing for 34 years, she said she decided to change after receiving a letter from her daughter on her 60th birthday. Kim Mi-kyung said, "My daughter looked at my hair and said, 'It looks like you're wearing a helmet to go earn money,'" and "She said it seemed like a symbol of having lived a hard, tenacious life," she relayed.
She recalled, "My daughter said, 'Now you can live more leisurely, so try growing your hair. That hair doesn't suit any hat,'" recalling the moment.
Kim Mi-kyung confessed her health was not good at the time. She said, "My weight was in the mid-70 kilograms, my blood pressure was 180, and I had severe fatty liver," and "My clothing size was 77, and some clothes simply did not fit," she said.
She said she thought long hair would not suit her in that condition and decided to diet. After that, Kim Mi-kyung succeeded in losing a total of 15kg.
She said, "As my appearance changed, my inner self completely changed," and "My stamina also improved a lot," reporting the change.
She added the secret to her steady care, saying, "Stamina is not built by lying down," and "I put on leggings in the morning and go out walking to keep my rhythm."
