Actor Choi Bul-am, who was engulfed in rumors about health problems, shares a recent update through a documentary.
MBC said on the 20th that it will air a special documentary on Choi Bul-am, "Paha, this is Choi Bul-am," at 9 p.m. on May 5 and May 12.
Paha, this is Choi Bul-am is a radio-style documentary that looks back on Choi Bul-am's life and acting world. Park Sang-won, who appeared as Choi Bul-am's eldest son in the MBC drama You and I, will serve as a presenter in the form of a radio DJ.
Novelist Kim Chun-bok, Choi Bul-am's high school classmate, and actor Park Geun-hyung, who worked with him as a stage actor at the National Theater Company of Korea, share stories from Choi Bul-am's youth. Also appearing are Ko Doo-shim, who played Choi Bul-am's eldest daughter-in-law in Rural Diary, Chae Sira, who played his granddaughter and daughter in MBC's Widow and Parting Left, respectively, and Jung Kyungho, who played his grandson in Smile, You.
Choi Bul-am is also expected to share an update on this program. Rumors about his health spread recently. After back disk surgery last year, his mobility declined, and he stepped away from KBS 1TV's current affairs and culture program Korean Food Table, which he had hosted for 14 years. On top of that, recent on-air remarks by actors Baek Il-seop and Park Eun-su expressing concern about his health compounded the speculation.
On the broadcast, Choi Bul-am is expected to explain why he is presenting the documentary, saying, "I want to convey my gratitude to the viewers. That is the heart of a clown."
