(Continuing from interview ①) 'The Ballad of Us' Lee Ji-hoon previewed that he will deliver comfort through his new song 'A decent person'.
Recently, an interview with SBS' The Ballad of Us' TOP6 Lee Ye-ji, Lee Ji-hoon and Song Ji-woo was held at the OSEN office located in Mapo-gu, Seoul.
As the runner-up of The Ballad of Us, Lee Ji-hoon signed an exclusive contract with SM C&C and gained the opportunity to debut. Accordingly, he will release the digital single 'A decent person' at 6 p.m. today (20th) and begin full-scale album activities. When asked how he felt about having an agency, Lee Ji-hoon said, "I really like being free, so sometimes being affiliated with somewhere can be burdensome, but to me right now it feels like a reliable supporter. They are colleagues who give me a lot of strength," expressing his gratitude for the reassurance.
The new song 'A decent person,' which Lee Ji-hoon presents officially as a solo singer, is a track on which singer and producer Yoon Jongshin participated in composition and lyrics. The song started from the sorrow toward those who have lost self-esteem and carries a message of comfort.
He expressed gratitude, saying, "This is a song about the presence that quietly watches over me when I'm having a hard time and want to give up. What I focused on in this song was thinking more about singing as if in conversation rather than singing more. Producer Yoon Jongshin telling me during recording, 'Don't sing, give comfort,' became the turning point. It became the reason the song got better."
When asked what kind of music he wants to present as a singer in the future, he said, "My first goal is to be called 'Lee Ji-hoon' rather than being confined to the MZ Kim Kwang-seok mold. Ultimately, my goal is to create rhythmic songs or sing-along tracks like senior Lee Chanhyuk and arrange a concert set list."
He said he has been steadily writing original songs and, regarding the stories he wants to include in his songs, "I want to infuse many of my experiences. There are many things that inspire me in the world, and each is different, so it's a bit difficult to say exactly what emotions I want to contain, but if I release an album I want to make a story of eight to nine tracks as one album. Each song is important, but I want to make an album where each track is good and, when looking at the album as a whole, you can clearly see what story it wants to tell."
He added, "These days people don't listen to lyrics much, so it seems ballad has collided with that reality. I think if a singer appears who makes people listen to lyrics again, people might focus on lyrics, so my goal is to become that kind of singer. Living like that, sharing many experiences with people and becoming a singer who can fill concert halls with lots of people, I want to return to small theaters and communicate with people every day."
Meanwhile, The Ballad of Us' TOP6, including Lee Ye-ji, Lee Ji-hoon and Song Ji-woo, will hold concerts at Olympic Hall in Olympic Park, Seoul, on May 9 and 10 and will finish their national tour with those performances.<
