The group Cortis has returned with a new song that boasts a distinctive sensibility.
Cortis held a showcase for the release of their mini album 2, 'GREENGREEN', at the YES24 Live Hall in Gwangjin District, Seoul, on the afternoon of the 20th and talked about the new album.
Returning eight months after their debut in August last year, Cortis said, "For this comeback we completed the album through various challenges and experiments to capture Cortis's own story. I'm curious how people will listen to it," and added, "Having learned and grown a lot during our first promotions, we want to show even cooler sides of ourselves."
He added, "I was eager for the comeback because I wanted to meet fans as soon as possible. I think a satisfying album came out because we prepared hard," and said, "We want to show a more grown team. We will do our best on every stage, so I hope you enjoy it and have fun."
The group's new song REDRED, released at 6 p.m. that day, candidly expresses what the team aspires to as "green" and what it is wary of as "red"; it features distinctive lyrics written by all members and an addictive melody.
About the title track REDRED, Juhun explained, "It's a song that uses red and green as motifs to talk about what we are wary of and what we aspire to. Choosing a theme was not easy. We wracked our brains for a long time until hyung James threw out an idea, and from then the work went well."
James added, "We had to match word rhymes, and while thinking about it the word 'green' came to mind. While talking with the producer, the opposite meaning, red, also came up, and the theme was completed."
Kunho said, "When the lyrics were completed I felt the song gained strength. The music and choreography all fit perfectly. After finishing the mixing I thought this is the title," showing confidence.
Having previously received great love with GO, Cortis said, "If this song receives big love like GO did, we would be happy. We were proud and grateful to receive greater love and attention. We look forward to participation from fans around the world for this song as well," and added, "We worked on the choreography draft in just a week. We worked faster than at debut. We tried to structure it intuitively and simply."
