'Perfect Crown' biggest beneficiary receiving attention is the actress, Gong Seung-yeon.
Gong Seung-yeon is meeting viewers as Royal Senior Queen Dowager Yoon I-rang in MBC's Friday-Saturday drama 'Perfect Crown.'
'Perfect Crown' is a drama set in 21st-century constitutional monarchy Korea about a chaebol who has everything but whose status is merely a commoner, an annoying woman, and the king's son who cannot have anything, a fate-pioneering status-breaking romance.
Yoon I-rang, played by Gong Seung-yeon, comes from a family that produced four queens and is the 'perfect queen' who has never once questioned becoming queen. Having chosen the destiny of 'queen' over herself, she is a character who constantly struggles to protect that fate in any situation, and Gong Seung-yeon, who has shown an irreplaceable charm through numerous works, perfectly portrays the dignified and resilient queen.
In this way, Gong Seung-yeon shed her existing image and presented a new challenge as Royal Senior Queen Dowager Yoon I-rang. From the first episode, the scene in which she slaps and warns Grand Prince Ian to guard against him becoming a threatening presence to her son Lee Yoon explosively showcased Yoon I-rang's desperate and anxious emotions to protect her position and properly conveyed the weight of royal conflict, and when confronting Grand Prince Ian (Byeon Woo-seok) she formed a tense standoff with a resolute expression and cold attitude.
Gong Seung-yeon combined solid vocal delivery, strong charisma and intense gazes to convincingly portray the character Yoon I-rang, who comes from a family that produced queens for four generations, and showed the power to fully immerse the audience in the drama.
With Gong Seung-yeon's performances, 'Perfect Crown' is enjoying soaring ratings. Starting at 7.3% (Nielsen Korea nationwide), 'Perfect Crown' recorded 9.5% for episode 2, 9.0% for episode 3, and 11.1% for episode 4 broadcast on the 18th.
