Voice actor and broadcaster Seo Yuri's ex-husband, producer Choi Byung-gil, responded by releasing the terms of the settlement proposal he was presented with during the divorce process.
On the 18th, Choi Byung-gil released a divorce settlement proposal document prepared by Seo Yuri's lawyer in March 2024. This was in response to Seo Yuri's recent release of the divorce agreement, and Choi Byung-gil said, "After the other side released an agreement that should not have been disclosed first and continued to smear me, I only took minimal action in response," and "Moreover, the 'previously made promise' is their claim. I was not in a position to make promises, so I never promised anything."
The released document contained the amount for property division and specific conditions related to Seo Yuri's entertainment activities. It included provisions ranging from the requirement that Choi Byung-gil not interfere with Seo Yuri's entertainment activities and, according to their previous agreement, must cast Seo Yuri in a drama at least in a lead or supporting role, to a clause that if the promise was not kept she must be cast in his next production that he directs or produces, and a provision that they must attend the Cannes international series festival together.
Choi Byung-gil explained, "They proposed this settlement to me, but casting is not something a director can decide alone, so it could not be guaranteed, and attending the Cannes festival was also absurd, so I refused. In the end, I had no choice but to conclude the settlement on the condition of adding an extra 60 million won."
Earlier, Seo Yuri had released the divorce agreement on the 19th of last month, claiming she did not receive the property division amount of several hundred million won from Choi Byung-gil, which had a deadline of Dec. 31, 2024.
The agreement Seo Yuri released stated that Choi Byung-gil must pay Seo Yuri a total of 323 million won by Dec. 31, 2024, as property division. It stipulated that if payment was delayed, interest of 12% per year would be added from Jan. 1, 2025. Seo Yuri said she had not yet received the agreed property division amount even though the promised deadline had passed by more than a year, and said, "I had much more money and assets. What are you talking about. Since 2019 there were only debts. He has never earned more than me even once."
Meanwhile, Seo Yuri and Choi Byung-gil married in 2019 but divorced in June 2024.
