Comedian Shim Jin-hwa of 'Sokpuri Show Dongchimi' candidly opened up about infertility, and comedian Lee Dong-yeop cheered her on.
On the 18th episode of MBN 'Sokpuri Show Dongchimi' (hereafter 'Dongchimi'), the talk continued under the theme 'mothers are women too.' Obstetrician-gynecologist Park Hye-seong, who is very popular among middle-aged women, said, "I have never lived as a woman. Can I go on this topic? But my daughter likes Mamma Mia, and she said while watching the scene where the mother and her friends sing the day before her daughter's wedding, 'my mother must have shined like that too,'" saying she appeared on the show after giving the topic a lot of thought.
After joining as an announcer, Oh Young-sil married a doctor right away and had a child. At the time, Oh Young-sil was immersed in the pleasures of social life and the freedom of becoming an adult, but at her boyfriend's suggestion she got married and became pregnant almost immediately during the short newlywed period. Oh Young-sil said, "My mother did not take bridal lessons. She was surprised that she would do it for the rest of her life. She said to always put on makeup because people would see me wherever I went, even when taking out the trash, and to wear makeup even when going to give birth. I actually went in with makeup when labor started, and a nurse told me to remove my makeup."
When that Oh Young-sil went to give birth, a completely different world unfolded. The delivery process, which is not explained in detail even during sex education classes, shocked Oh Young-sil, and she cried every day from postpartum depression, but her husband, who is a doctor, said, "Another doctor's wife stands on the veranda all day. You are less affected," which reportedly shocked her.
In response, specialist Park Hye-seong recounted a case in which a family completely collapsed due to postpartum depression, making everyone nod in agreement.
While everyone empathized about childbirth, Shim Jin-hwa brought up her own topic, saying 'although I'm a woman, I wanted to become a mother.' Shim Jin-hwa, who married comedian Kim Won-hyo in 2011, was known to have longed desperately for a child. Around last year she said on her social media that she no longer thinks about the child issue.
Shim Jin-hwa said, "I wondered if it was the will of heaven," adding, "If you go to the obstetrician, Kim Won-hyo actually has no problem with sperm count; he's even called a sperm king. I also had no problems." She said she would rather live comfortably with the encouragement of both parents.
In response, Lee Dong-yeop said, "Park Seul-gi touched my nose and had two children," and told her to touch his nose. Shim Jin-hwa said, "I didn't want to touch Lee Dong-yeop's nose," yet she couldn't help touching it and burst into laughter. Shim Jin-hwa also said, "We, as a couple, do not have children. If a child were born, all my attention would go to the child, but since we don't have one, my husband is the most important and then my mother," and she said, "So it's really nice to be able to take good care of both mothers," smiling happily.
