Breaking away from clichéd stereotypes, the new girl group UNCHILD, promoted as "rule breakers," has raised expectations with an unconventional promotion.
Unchild (Park Ye-eun, Hiki, Tina, Ako, Lee Bon, Na Ha-eun) will release their debut single "We Are UNCHILD" at 6 p.m. on the 21st on various music platforms.
Centered on "dance prodigy" Na Ha-eun and including Park Ye-eun, who drew attention on Mnet "I-LAND2 : N/a," Unchild put the aspiration in their name to refuse "ordinariness" by using the prefix "UN-" to transcend fixed molds and transform their unique personalities into a special energy.
While each member has their own personality and color, Unchild, which generates greater synergy when together, is expected to show the best chemistry on stage, and curiosity is already growing about their debut stage, which will present bold and shocking performances based on free-spirited energy.
As the team name suggests a rejection of standardized thinking and anticipation grows for the arrival of a new "rule breaker" in pop music, Unchild delivered a powerful impact on the 18th with an exhibition-style performance, "We Are UNCHILD – UNSCHOOL," held in Sangam-dong.
In an unusual classroom set up in the middle of a park, Unchild showed themselves spending time together in their own way, appearing to be separate from the world though present among people. Through directing that blocked communication with the outside and had them respond only to each other to create a single world, they visually realized Unchild's unique identity and message.
A street promotion using Unchild's symbol, the tree frog, was held at the same time. Starting in Sangam and continuing through Hongdae, Yeouido and Seongsu, the promotion was conducted with tree frogs holding signs that said, "Do you happen to know Unchild?" moving among the crowd to deliver the message.
A representative said, "This promotion was an attempt to expand Unchild's identity, which starts from the prefix 'UN-,' and was carried out to convey the group's energy through a free approach that breaks away from fixed molds and methods."
