Marking Sia's 20th anniversary and reuniting after 15 years, Nam Gyu-ri expressed a special fondness for "Sarangui Insa."
On the 19th, a video titled "Behind the scenes of the music video shoot for the song Nam Gyu-ri wanted to sing so much, 'Sarangui Insa', that she delivers in 2026" was posted on the YouTube channel Nam Gyu-ri's Gyulmung.
In the video, Nam Gyu-ri opened by saying, "Right now I am at the music video shoot. It's my kitchen at home. I thought I should show you the shoot, so I turned on the camera."
Saying she would remake Sia's signature song "Sarangui Insa," Nam Gyu-ri started filming the music video at home, saying, "I curled my hair and drew freckles."
Repeating shooting and monitoring while focusing, Nam Gyu-ri expressed satisfaction, saying, "Today's concept is freckles. They may not be very visible, but I dotted them like this... I think it's okay. The freckles too."
She added, "I think it's really fun to do a new concept every time I shoot a music video, and playing around with my face like this seems to suit me a bit."
Continuing to shoot consecutively on the subway and on a bridge over the Han River, Nam Gyu-ri said, "I've been running all day. Running on the subway, running at the Han River, running on the stairs, I'm running endlessly. This is my first time shooting as a road movie, so I'm curious how it will turn out."
She then joked, "The problem is I'm hungry. We have to keep shooting; if I had known, I should have grilled samgyeopsal for breakfast and come."
Finally, she shot wearing a wedding dress at Eulwangri Beach. On the screen, subtitles read, "The song that softly slipped from my lips the day I left Sia, whom I loved so much 15 years ago, 'Sarangui Insa'; the song 'Sarangui Insa' I first sang in tears on Sugar Man, trembling with a hopeful heart; and Sia reunited after 15 years."
She added, "The song that first came to mind in those moments I missed so much was 'Sarangui Insa' — a dreamlike time we waited for a long time," and said, "No matter how cold and hard it was, meeting the excited, thrilled 'Sarangui Insa' now makes me simply grateful and happy," which moved viewers.
