HYBE and Geffen Records' global girl group KATSEYE fully took over the stage at the world's largest music festival, Coachella, solidifying their position as the next-generation pop icon.
KATSEYE successfully completed their second-week performance at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival (hereafter "Coachella") held in Indio, California, on the 17th (local time). Following their first-week performance on the 10th, they took the Sahara stage and, over about 45 minutes, stormed through 11 songs, eliciting cheers from some 60,000 audience members.
Opening glamorously with the new song "PINKY UP," KATSEYE presented a medley of hits including "Internet Girl," "Gabriela," and "Gnarly." Their wide musical spectrum ranging from Latin pop to hyperpop, and unwavering vocal skills even during intense performances, provoked mass singing from the audience. In particular, the "GOLDEN" stage performed together with members of the virtual girl group HUNTR/X was cited as the highlight of this Coachella.
Their popularity was proven by the numbers. Before and after the Coachella performance, KATSEYE's major social media follower count surged by more than 580,000, bringing the total to over 47.04 million. Also, the "PINKY UP" live video posted on Coachella's official channel surpassed 6.3 million views shortly after its release, outpacing view counts of pop stars such as Sabrina Carpenter. Coachella praised it as a "performance so good it's hard to believe."
U.S. Billboard could not hide its excitement, calling their performance "Bonkers," and People highly praised it as "girl group greatness," noting KATSEYE's global influence.
They also stood out on global charts. The new song "PINKY UP" has proven its worldwide popularity by placing at the top ranks of major charts such as the U.K. Official Singles Top 100 and Spotify's U.S. Weekly Top Songs.
Having demonstrated overwhelming stage control at Coachella, KATSEYE will ride the momentum into a large-scale festival tour. Starting with New York's "Governors Ball Music Festival" in June, they will appear on major stages across North America, including the "Hinterland Music Festival" in July and "Head in the Clouds" in August, meeting global fans.
