News has emerged of the death of Kim Hyunjin, who exposed poet Park Jinsung's sexual harassment.
On the 17th, Lee Eun, who was the deceased's legal representative, announced the funeral parlor and funeral date via social media, saying, "We announce the farewell of Kim Hyunjin, born in 1998, who was brief but bright and passionate."
Lee Eun said, "I do not know what to write at this sudden farewell. Kim Hyunjin suffered harm during adolescence from poet Park Jinsung, and thereafter endured prolonged malicious secondary harm. During those cruel times, the courts and society were accomplices and bystanders."
He added, "Still, Kim Hyunjin was a courageous and intelligent youth, and with the courage she showed, many women joined hands and pushed forward to achieve justice."
The funeral parlor has been set up in Room 1 of Dongshin Hospital Funeral Hall in Seodaemun District, Seoul. The funeral will take place in the afternoon on the 18th.
Meanwhile, poet Park Jinsung met Kim Hyunjin, who was 17 at the time, through an online poetry class in 2015, sent inappropriate messages several times, and Kim Hyunjin revealed the harm anonymously during the Me Too movement in 2016.
In response, Park Jinsung posted a denial of the allegations and continued to defame and commit secondary harm by exposing Kim Hyunjin's personal information on social media. Kim Hyunjin sued Park Jinsung for defamation, and in 2024 he was sentenced to 1 year and 8 months in prison.
