'The absolute value of romance' ties Kim Hyang-gi and Cha Hak-yeon in an antagonistic 'hate relationship' from the start.
In the Coupang Play series 'The absolute value of romance,' first released on the 17th, Yeo Euiju (played by Kim Hyang-gi) and Ga Usu (played by Cha Hak-yeon) revealed a 'hate relationship' between teacher and student from the start.
Yeo Euiju was a BL writer. However, she was a 'failed writer' who received harsh criticism for her characters, narrative, composition and plausibility. While serializing up to episode 100, she generally received no comments and her page views were at the level of two views, likely including readers who clicked by mistake. She even dreamed of being arrested for writing a boring novel.
Handsome four neighbors moved into Yeo Euiju's next-door apartment. Seeing them rubbing shoulders while stretching and bickering, Yeo Euiju naturally stretched her BL imagination. In reality, however, her younger brother used her status as a BL writer against her, and to avoid being teased as a pervert she would run errands for cola for him as an older sister.
Avoiding her younger brother's teasing, skipping breakfast roughly and leaving the house, Yeo Euiju witnessed Ga Usu and Yoon Dong-ju (played by Kim Dong-gyu) bickering and sank into a solitary, pleased imagination. Then, feeling as if an insect had landed on her forehead, she adjusted her face with a selfie. Ga Usu saw this and misunderstood that she had been secretly photographing them. He even belittled her without properly listening to her explanation, saying, "You were probably going to post a photo somewhere to beg for comments."
Thinking of her novel that had received no comments for 100 episodes, Yeo Euiju snapped, "Do you know how humiliating that is?" But after a struggle with Ga Usu, who thought she had taken a photo and tried to delete it, her phone slipped and the previously intact screen cracked. Toward that Yeo Euiju, Ga Usu said, "Do you know why students wear school uniforms?" — implying knowledge of Murim Girls' High School uniforms as he stared, leaving an uncomfortable impression.
It turned out that not only Ga Usu and Yoon Dong-ju but also Jeong Gi-jeon (played by Son Jeong-hyeok) and Noh Da-ju (played by Kim Jae-hyun) had all been appointed as new teachers at Murim Girls' High School. Among them, Ga Usu was the co-homeroom teacher of Yeo Euiju's class. From the roll call onward, Yeo Euiju felt the weight of being singled out by Ga Usu and became frustrated.
Worse, Ga Usu's subject was math — a subject in which Yeo Euiju scored only 4 points on a mock exam. Ga Usu ordered, "Write 20 reflections addressed to Teacher Euclid," marking the beginning of the 'hate relationship' between teacher and student between Ga Usu and Yeo Euiju. <
