Actor Ku Sung-hwan challenged a national march from Seoul to Busan.
On the 17th, on the MBC variety show I Live Alone (abbreviated as "I Live Alone"), Ku Sung-hwan drew attention by attempting a 446km national march after sending off his companion dog Kkot-bun.
That day Ku Sung-hwan revealed his condition, looking noticeably thinner. He opened up, "I lost 12kg. It wasn't from dieting,"
Ku Sung-hwan said, "Since my 20s I had my own bucket list, and it was a national march. I had failed three times. I thought I should try once more before entering my 50s. I thought this would be the end if I failed this time, so I went on one last tearful challenge,"
Afterward, Ku Sung-hwan's national march journey was replayed on VCR. Ku Sung-hwan woke up at 6 a.m. in a village hall moaning. Ku Sung-hwan complained, "My whole body hurts like a soldier who fought 100 wars. Patches don't work,"
Ku Sung-hwan said he was going from his home in Cheonho-dong, Seoul, to Gwangalli Beach in Busan, and noted, "A national march is on many people's bucket lists. There's also a romance in the idea that you can only go across the country on foot,"
The reason he decided to attempt the national march now was because of Kkot-bun. Ku Sung-hwan said, "After suddenly sending off Kkot-bun, whom I raised for 11 years, I was mentally very distressed. Of course it was hard. She was my daughter. I wanted to break that feeling. The thing I chose to do that was walking,"
Meanwhile, Ku Sung-hwan earlier in February reported the death of his companion dog Kkot-bun. At the time he said, "Even as I write this I don't want to accept it and I can't believe it. My daughter, my sister, my partner Kkot-bun crossed the rainbow bridge on Feb. 14," and added, "Thank you sincerely for loving and caring for Kkot-bun all this time. I will pull myself together and return in good health."
