'Curious Story Y' the late director Kim Chang-min died after an argument at a drinking gathering, but the perpetrator is brazenly living his daily life, and the bereaved family is shedding tears of blood.
On the 17th episode of SBS' 'Curious Story Y,' the case of the late director Kim Chang-min, who died after a group assault, was revisited, and an interview with suspect Lee was covered.
At the time of the incident, Director Kim asked the rowdy group to be quiet and was then subjected to indiscriminate violence. A witness conveyed circumstances saying, "Since the baby was dragged with his father, pee twice here. That baby would be anxious," reporting that the disabled son, with the intelligence of a 3-year-old, trembled in fear as he watched his father being dragged away.
Director Kim, who was moved to the hospital, fell into a brain-dead state and eventually died. A medical school professor supported the brutality of the assault, saying, "He was hit hard enough that blood came from his ears and he fell and hit the ground. The impact was so severe that bones were broken and he was in a condition that could not undergo surgery."
However, suspect Lee, while mentioning an apology, also made claims that shifted responsibility onto the deceased. Lee protested his innocence, saying, "From my perspective, situations arise that move away from the facts. Director Kim cursed, 'You bastards, shut the hell up,' so I immediately bowed and said 'I'm sorry,'" expressing grievance. He claimed he only hit three times, but an accompanying person at the time directly contradicted Lee's words, saying, "He was assaulted multiple times and it was very serious."
What angered the bereaved most was the judiciary's judgment and the perpetrator's conduct. Director Kim's father vented, "This is a fatal case, yet the arrest warrant was dismissed — what kind of law is this in the world?" He was at a loss for words, especially about the suspect releasing an album and continuing activities as a singer after the incident, saying, "My son is dead, yet he swaggered around and sang like that."
