The story of the late director Kim Chang-min, a man in his 40s who had a son with severe developmental disabilities, was revealed on "Curious Story Y."
On the 17th episode of SBS "Curious Story Y," the case of the late director Kim Chang-min, who died after a group assault, was reexamined, and an interview with suspect Mr. Lee was featured.
A witness at the scene at the time said, "The baby was dragged away by his father, so he peed twice here. That child must have been anxious," recounting the tragedy of the disabled son who had to watch his father being brutally beaten.
When he was taken to the hospital, Director Kim's face was bruised all over and his ear was filled with blood. A medical school professor explained, "There was enough force for blood to come from the ear, so he fell and hit the ground. The impact was so severe that his bones could have broken, and he was in a brain-dead state unable to undergo surgery."
In a recent interview, suspect Mr. Lee claimed the deceased first shouted insults and picked a fight. Mr. Lee pleaded his innocence, saying, "From my perspective, situations arose that deviated from the facts. Director Kim insulted, 'You XXs, shut up and eat,' so I immediately bowed and said, 'I'm sorry.'"
Also, while he said he only hit three times, an accompanying person at the time directly refuted Mr. Lee's claim, saying, "He was assaulted repeatedly and it was very serious."
The bereaved family exploded in anger at the perpetrator's brazen behavior. Director Kim's father lamented, "This is a death case, yet the arrest warrant was dismissed — what kind of law is this?" and expressed his outrage. He was especially at a loss for words over the fact that suspect Mr. Lee has even released an album and is active after the incident, saying, "My son is dead, yet he parades around and sang like that."
