Actor Moon Geun-young, after being cured of a rare disease, has drawn attention by sharing her feelings about entering her 40s while looking noticeably brighter.
At the end of the April 15 broadcast of the tvN variety show You Quiz on the Block, a preview of Moon Geun-young's appearance was released. Appearing in the studio for the first time in a while, Moon Geun-young greeted the audience in a brisk voice and introduced herself cheerfully, saying, "In the meantime I turned 40. I am a young bride, the nation's younger sister."
She added, "Maybe as my body has grown my mind has become more relaxed, but being in my 40s is a bit exciting," sharing an update that showed she has become more at ease.
In particular, Moon Geun-young had candidly revealed details about her past illness. She recalled, "They said the golden time had already passed and necrosis might have begun, so I had to undergo emergency surgery," and said, "I told my mother, 'I'm glad I can finally rest with peace of mind,'" evoking sympathy. But she overcame those difficult times and showed a stronger appearance.
Earlier, while performing in the 2017 play 'Romeo and Juliet,' Moon Geun-young was diagnosed with acute compartment syndrome and underwent four surgeries, enduring a long battle with illness. She later announced her complete recovery in 2024 and regained her health.
Her activities continued even after the illness. She appeared in the drama 'Ghost Catcher' and 'Hell Season 2,' among others, demonstrating her presence, and she also expanded her range by trying film directing.
Her return to the stage also attracted attention. In December of last year, Moon Geun-young returned to the theater stage after about nine years through the play 'Orphans.' Playing the rough but tender-hearted character "Terry," she showed a more deeply developed acting skill that drew attention.
Moon Geun-young, having overcome a rare disease and once again standing before audiences, is attracting interest for her path forward as she returns even more resilient.
