On the 17th episode of SBS "Curious Story Y," the case of the late director Kim Chang-min, who died after a group assault, was reexamined, and an interview with suspect Lee was featured.
The incident began at an ordinary dining table. Asking a noisy group in the restaurant to be quiet proved to be the catalyst. That remark led to an argument and escalated into indiscriminate violence. A witness who saw the scene at the time said, "The baby's dad was dragged away, so he peed twice here. That child must have been terrified," conveying the extreme fear the disabled son who witnessed his father's crisis likely felt.
Director Kim's condition after being rushed to the hospital was horrific. His face was covered with bruises, and there was blood pooled in his ear. Despite the medical staff's efforts, he ultimately died.
Regarding the cause of death, a medical school professor explained, "Bleeding from the ear indicates he was struck and fell, hitting the ground. If the ear area receives a severe impact, bones can break and blood can exit," suggesting the force applied during the assault was substantial.
The bereaved family cannot find words after the sudden farewell. The deceased's father said, "We cremated him and placed him in the columbarium, but when I pass by I feel like he might appear saying 'Dad'," expressing his agonizing feelings. The sibling also said, "He went to eat and never came back," conveying the stunned reality.
