Hollywood actor Tom Cruise is returning once again as Captain Maverick Mitchell.
On the 16th (local time), Variety reported that the Tom Cruise-led film Top Gun is returning as a third installment.
According to the report, Paramount, which produced Top Gun and Top Gun: Maverick, announced at a CinemaCon 2026 panel that a third installment is in production. The screenplay is currently being written, and Jerry Bruckheimer is returning as a producer for the third film.
With this, Tom Cruise will once again return to the role of Captain Maverick Mitchell. He returned to Top Gun after 36 years with the sequel released in 2022.
He previously said last year about the Top Gun series, "We are thinking about and discussing many stories and what we can do and what is possible."
He added, "It took 35 years to complete Top Gun: Maverick. So we are discussing it along with all the projects currently underway."
Top Gun: Maverick earned an astonishing $1.409 billion in worldwide box office revenue and won the Academy Award for sound at the 2023 Academy Awards. In Korea, it drew a cumulative audience of 8.24 million and was a box office success.
