"Problem Child in House" Hong Jin Kyung revealed her unusual childbirth secret.
On the 16th, KBS 2TV "Problem Child in House" (hereinafter "Problem Child") aired, where they discussed various myths with obstetrician-gynecologists Kim Ji-yeon and Chu Sung-il.
That day Hong Jin Kyung called Kim Ji-yeon, known as a leading sex education instructor, "my primary doctor," and said, "I was about to make a medical appointment and called earlier. I was planning to go next week, but the doctor isn't in on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday," which drew attention.
Above all, Hong Jin Kyung said, "I didn't know my teacher was famous for sex education, so she doesn't need to teach me, but she gives me a lot of sex education," and added, "She speaks so loudly it's embarrassing. She talks about technique."
While discussing vaginal delivery and cesarean section with Kim Ji-yeon and Chu Sung-il, Hong Jin Kyung recalled her childbirth, saying, "I had a vaginal delivery. It was really scary. It's really scary when you give birth. It was truly a first-time horror."
At that time Kim Ji-yeon said, "But you probably delivered the baby well. That's the kind of body type," and Kim Sook and Song Eun I asked, "Can you tell by physiognomy?" Kim Ji-yeon explained, "Usually thin and tall people really deliver babies well."
When Hong Jin Kyung agreed, saying, "I really gave birth easily," Joo Woo-jae turned to Song Eun I and Kim Sook and quipped, "You two will be in for a long battle," drawing laughter.
Meanwhile Hong Jin Kyung said, "Many people might be curious," and confessed, "I had an epidural. With an epidural they give an anesthesia shot. Your stomach doesn't hurt. But the side effect is that when you need to push, the anesthesia prevents it, so you can't push."
She continued, "After the medicine wears off you give birth with difficulty. I decided I'd give birth while the medicine was working, so when my graph surged I pushed hard. I managed the delivery room. 'Doctor, I'm pushing now' I pushed alone. The doctor was relaxed. I was afraid it would hurt when the medicine wore off, so I delivered the baby quickly," she said.
Then Hong Jin Kyung asked, "You can't get the epidural twice, right?" and Kim Ji-yeon answered, "There is no need to give it twice. I've never done that," prompting Hong Jin Kyung to ask back, "Can't you add more when the medicine wears off?"
Kim Ji-yeon said, "Actually, doctors who are this skilled just proceed, and if the patient can't push they turn off the medicine," and Chu Sung-il explained, "The worst thing is attempting a vaginal delivery and then having to do a cesarean. You suffer for nothing and lose out. So there is no limit on the number of attempts, but if you can't use the epidural and have to go long term, it's hard."
In response, Hong Jin Kyung advised, "Expectant mothers watching today's broadcast listen up. They won't give the epidural more than twice. You have to get it right in one try."
