On Curious Story Y, the suspect Lee, who caused the death of late director Kim Chang-min, who had a son with developmental disabilities, after an assault dispute, has spoken.
On the 17th broadcast, SBS' Curious Story Y revisited the case of director Kim Chang-min, who died from a group assault, and covered an interview with suspect Lee.
In the released interview, suspect Lee said, "I really want to offer a huge apology to the victim, the late director Kim Chang-min," to open his remarks. But the apology was brief; Lee then appealed that the situation at the time was different from what has been reported and voiced his grievance.
Lee claimed, "From my position, situations keep arising that increasingly deviate from the facts," and said, "You can go to a bar, drink and be loud. Director Kim Chang-min looked at us and cursed, saying, 'You bastards, shut up and eat,' and the moment he said that, I immediately bowed my head and said, 'I'm sorry.'" He argued that the incident began not from a legitimate protest by the deceased but from a one-sided verbal attack.
Lee also denied reports that he struck the victim multiple times, saying, 'I only hit him three times.' But this claim directly conflicts with testimony from an accompaniant who was at the scene.
Contrary to Lee's claim of hitting him only three times, an accompaniant testified, "(the deceased) was assaulted repeatedly," and revealed that the severity of the assault at the time was "very serious." This eyewitness account is completely different from the suspect's 'apology followed by excuse.'
