BTS Jin explained why he had no choice but to be left off the "Arirang" credits.
On the 15th, Rolling Stone released an interview video with BTS Jin. In the interview that day, Jin was asked, "I heard you recorded about 100 songs for this album, and it seems there are quite a few songwriting credits on songs that didn't make the album. Could you tell us what those songs were?"
He said, "This is an episode I haven't shared anywhere, but the truth is I didn't do any work. That's because I was on my solo tour at the time, and when I arrived at the place where the members were having the sessions, already a hundred-some songs had been made, so I spent about a week to 10 days doing test recordings of the songs I had picked and narrowed down. By the time that was over, the sessions were finished," explaining the situation at the time.
He said, "The sessions had been scheduled three months before they started, and my tour had been scheduled several months before that, so the timing didn't match. The members were also serving in the military, and I thought fans might get bored, so while I was trying to soothe the fans' feelings, all the songs were completed."
Jin, asked, "The album is already so good, but you have to think about how much better it would have been if there had been a few more songwriting credits," replied, "I also think it would have been nice, but our members did such a great job, and if I had been greedy and said, 'I have to put mine in too' and delayed the sessions for a few more months, our interview would have been a few months later, not now. Wouldn't fans be very bored during those months?" offering his candid thoughts.
He added, "It's unfortunate, but my life isn't only the present. I think there will be a future and opportunities anytime, so although it's disappointing, at that time I think it was the best choice for me."
This was also mentioned once during a live broadcast held last month. At the time, Jin was sharing the behind-the-scenes of producing the fifth full-length album "ARIRANG" and brought up the songwriting camp, saying he was able to join the camp a week before the sessions ended due to the tour. He said, "They said they had already made more than 100 pieces of music," and explained, "I listened to more than half of the album after coming back to Korea."
RM said, "Each of us put in our own colors. Jin hyung would have joined if his tour had ended a little earlier. It's a pity," and V added, "Hyung had time he could have used, but his condition wasn't great because he kept touring." The members expressed gratitude toward Jin, saying, "Hyung worked hard. Thanks to him, he also protected the team," and Jin responded, "I'm glad a lot of cool songs came out," creating a warm moment.
Meanwhile, BTS released their fifth full-length album "ARIRANG" last month and are currently meeting global fans through their world tour.<
