'Death Game' returns with final boss Hong Jin-ho for season 2.
On the 15th, the Netflix variety show Death Game 2: The Last Winner (abbreviated Death Game 2) announced that it will premiere on the 22nd and released a teaser video and official poster.
Death Game 2 is a survival variety show that features brainy final matches in a weekly tournament format to determine a single last winner. Season 2 will proceed as a tournament according to the number of seeds awarded as signs of victory in season 1. Thus, the 1:1 matches from season 1 serve as a build-up into season 2, raising anticipation for the grand final.
Among them, the lineup of participants draws attention. New faces joining Death Game 2 include popular travel YouTuber GwakTube, who was active on another Netflix survival show The Devil's Plan, Miss Korea and prestigious university student Park Hee-seon, who appeared on Single's Inferno 5, and Jiyoo, leader of the idol group KiiiKiii.
The teaser video further heightened expectations for the contestants' performances. While Pengsoo provoked others by saying "druwa," Yurisah, Heo Seong-beom, GwakTube, Park Hee-seon and Jiyoo gathered in one place and emphasized a structure different from season 1. Comedian Jang Dong-min, called a "survival legend," urged fierce competition, saying "only first place matters."
The new faces drew attention with even more fierce lines. GwakTube said, "I'll do better than PaniBottle hyung," Park Hee-seon said, "So this is why you do survival shows," and Jiyoo lit up the mood, saying, "It would be fun to play a game with Autumn unni."
Also drawing attention are returning participants who held seeds from season 1, including Park Sung-woong, Pengsoo and Hong Jin-ho. In particular, Hong Jin-ho has established himself as the "final boss" within the Death Game series with two wins. He recently also finished second in an international poker tournament. Attention is focused on whether Hong Jin-ho, famous since his pro-gamer days for a runner-up jinx, will overcome the runner-up jinx by showing dominance in survival on Death Game 2. <
