Actor Kim Sung-Cheol becomes a pay doctor.
KBS 2TV's new drama "Sleeping Doctor" (directed by Lee Hyun-kyung, Lee Jin Ah, written by Baek Eun-kyung) is a work that depicts the romantic cardiopulmonary resuscitation between novice self-employed owner "Gap" Hong-gyeong and the all-around pay doctor "Eul" Nam Ji-o, set in a struggling private psychiatric clinic.
Kim Sung-Cheol will play Nam Ji-o, a pay doctor at "Healer mental health clinic" with innate talent, and is expected to deliver a passionate performance. Nam Ji-o is a character who has mastered medical knowledge across all fields and struggles to save the crumbling clinic of Hong-gyeong (played by Jin Ki-joo). He clashes with Hong-gyeong over treatment and hospital management methods but gradually empathizes with her and begins to feel attracted to her, raising expectations for their romance.
Kim Sung-Cheol has continued to work across genres, from the Netflix original series "Boyfriend on Demand" and "Hell" season 2 to the drama "Our Beloved Summer," "Do You Like Brahms?", the films "Project Y", "The Old Woman with the Knife", "Owl", and the musical "Death Note." Known for his strong presence in every project, Kim Sung-Cheol challenged his first doctor role since his debut through "Sleeping Doctor."
The production team said, "The sync between Kim Sung-Cheol and the Nam Ji-o character is near perfect. We have high expectations for how actor Kim Sung-Cheol, who has excellent acting skills, will handle the story of Nam Ji-o, a versatile doctor with deep wounds. We ask for a lot of interest in what kind of performance Kim Sung-Cheol, who has an increasingly captivating charm, will show."
Meanwhile, "Sleeping Doctor" is a collaboration between director Lee Hyun-kyung, who directed "Cinderella Game" and "Drama Special 2023 - Confession Attack," and writer Baek Eun-kyung, who wrote "Accidentally Rural Diary." "Sleeping Doctor" has finished the production preparation stage and is scheduled to begin filming.
