Chef Anh Sung-jae was taken aback by singer and actress IU's cooking skills.
On the 15th, a video titled 'IU even eats late-night snacks like this: IU-style late-night snack recipes that are easy to eat late at night without burden' was posted on the YouTube channel 'Chef Anh Sung-jae'.
That day IU confessed she was 'hopeless at cooking' and said, "When I first started living on my own, cooking was briefly fun. I also like eating, but I think I don't have much talent for it."
She continued, "In the past I tried making stews and braised chicken and when there was a lot I would offer it to my family and say 'try it,' but no one ate it. Everyone in my family is good at cooking. Strangely, I'm the only one who seems born not good at cooking," she confessed.
Then she said, "At some point I stopped (cooking). So at home I mostly eat instant noodles," and added, "My favorite food is instant noodles. You can't eat instant noodles all the time. I eat them when I really can't resist."
IU's soft tofu and cheese pancake was completed, and Anh Sung-jae presented a cucumber and pollock roe salad as a side dish. Anh Sung-jae asked that the cucumber surface be scraped to make it smooth, and IU seriously learned and began scraping diligently.
Contrary to her enthusiasm, when the surface peeled off roughly, IU lamented, "I feel a sense of despair," which drew laughter.
Also, IU could not exert force in the task of breaking the cucumber by pressing it with the palm of her hand. She engaged even her elbow but there was no movement, and eventually Anh Sung-jae stepped in and gently broke the cucumber.
IU said, "Why won't this work?" and added, "My cucumber seems a bit firm." When her knife work was also precarious, Anh Sung-jae taught her the proper way to use a knife.
Meanwhile, Anh Sung-jae let out a single-syllable "ah" at IU's cooking skills, which brought laughter.
