It has been 21 years since actor the late Kim Mu-saeng, who possessed both charisma and warmth, passed away.
April 16, 2026, marks the 21st anniversary of the death of actor the late Kim Mu-saeng. The deceased passed away from pneumonia on April 16, 2005. He was 62.
A graduate with a bachelor's degree from Dongguk University's department of theater and film who worked as a stage actor, the late Kim Mu-saeng debuted in 1963 as part of TBC's first class of voice actors. In 1969 he became an MBC special recruitment talent and then showed strong, bold acting in dramas such as "Trap of Youth," "Tears of the Dragon," and "The Sun, Yi Je-ma," and he appeared in more than 100 works including drama, film and theater, leaving a lasting presence.
Kim Mu-saeng's family continued the acting tradition through generations. His son was actor Kim Joo-hyuk. Kim Joo-hyuk debuted in 1998 as an SBS eighth class open recruitment talent and appeared in dramas such as "KAIST," "Lovers in Prague," and "Guam Heo Jun," and in films such as "Singles," "Hongbanjang," "Kwang-sik's Younger Brother Kwang-tae," and "My Wife Got Married."
The late Kim Mu-saeng, who received much love as a member of a family of actors across generations, battled rheumatic lung disease starting about two years before his death, and with pneumonia added on, he is known to have been in a coma for nearly a month. Ultimately unable to recover his health, the late Kim Mu-saeng left us.
After the late Kim Mu-saeng passed away, his son Kim Joo-hyuk also became a star in the sky. Kim Joo-hyuk died in 2017, 12 years after his father's death, when the vehicle he was driving collided with another vehicle near the main gate of an apartment on Yeongdong-daero in Samseong-dong, Gangnam District, Seoul, and then overturned.
