Actor Moon Geun-young, who is returning after being cured of a rare disease, shared her feelings about turning 40.
On the afternoon of the 15th, the cable channel tvN variety show You Quiz on the Block aired, and at the end of the broadcast, Moon Geun-young's appearance next week was announced.
Yu Jae-seok warmly welcomed Moon Geun-young, whom he met after a long time. Entering the studio with a lively voice, Moon Geun-young introduced herself with a smile, saying, "In the meantime I turned 40. I am a young bride, the nation's younger sister."
In the preview, Yu Jae-seok mentioned that Moon Geun-young was diagnosed with acute compartment syndrome several years ago, and opened by saying, "Even the name sounds very unfamiliar."
Regarding this, Moon Geun-young recounted the situation at the time, saying, "They told me the golden time had already passed and necrosis could have begun, so I had to have emergency surgery. I was told she said, 'Mom, now I can rest with peace of mind, I'm so happy.'"
Meanwhile, Moon Geun-young also showed her unchanging cheerful and lively side. Moon Geun-young drew attention by saying, "As my body has grown, I don't know if my mind has become more relaxed and bigger too…being in my 40s is a bit exciting." Born in May 1987, Moon Geun-young is 39 this year.
Earlier, while performing the play Romeo and Juliet in 2017, Moon Geun-young was diagnosed with acute compartment syndrome and underwent four surgeries, continuing a long battle with the illness. At the time, her agency said, "She complained of sudden pain in her right arm, and after examination she was diagnosed with acute compartment syndrome and had emergency surgery."
Until reporting her full recovery in 2024, during her illness Moon Geun-young appeared in the dramas Ghost Catcher, Memory's 해각, and Hell Season 2, and also took on a challenge as a film director. She also returned to the stage after nine years through the play Orphans.
