Actor Ha Jiwon shared heartfelt reflections as she wrapped up the roller-coaster journey of the ENA drama 'Climax'. Ha Jiwon played the role of Cha Sanga, an actress who plunged to rock bottom after a same-sex scandal and then spectacularly revived, delivering a performance that oscillated between heaven and hell and captivated viewers.
In the finale, Cha Sanga joined hands with her husband Bang Taeseop (Ju Jihoon) and successfully completed perfect revenge by exposing Lee Yangmi (Cha Joo-young)'s charge of instigating a murder that had sent her into ruin. In particular, the scene in which the arrested Lee Yangmi mouths the message "may you live a long life and die a peaceful death" left viewers with a powerful catharsis.
However, as she stood again at the peak of her career and with her husband's mayoral election looking likely, the ending—when she receives a call from Lee Yangmi in prison and, terrified, asks "is this hell?"—left a chilling twist and a deep aftertaste.
Ha Jiwon said, "I had many concerns from the start to portray Cha Sanga, who struggles to survive," and added, "I completely let go of myself and approached it to be Cha Sanga rather than actor Ha Jiwon, so I think this will be a work long remembered in my acting career." She expressed deep gratitude to viewers who supported her new transformation despite the physically and mentally demanding journey with many emotionally draining scenes.
Regarding continuing extreme challenges such as same-sex chemistry and shocking fall scenes, she explained, "I worried a lot because there were many scenes that went beyond conventional grammar, but I focused most on delicately expressing the three-dimensional aspects of a character whose good and evil are ambiguous." She continued, "'Climax' was a work that broke my own frame to another level.
