Former wrestling athlete Shim Kwon-ho has shown signs of regained health through "Joseon's lover," receiving much support.
On the 14th, the TV CHOSUN show "Joseon's lover" aired a segment depicting Shim Kwon-ho's condition after liver cancer surgery along with a healing trip to Jeju Island with Yoon Jungsoo·Choi Hong-man.
In that broadcast, Shim Kwon-ho headed to Jeju with Yoon Jungsoo and met Choi Hong-man. After battling liver cancer and finding stability, Shim Kwon-ho said, "At that time my mind was complicated and it was hard. It's still like that, but there was no one to teach me what to do and I had to handle it alone. There was no way," adding, "But now that all the treatment is over, I can comfortably look at the sea that I like."
In particular, Shim Kwon-ho showed regret over delaying treatment, saying, "I should have gotten treatment sooner." In response, Yoon Jungsoo comforted him, saying, "There are probably people who gained courage from seeing you," and Shim Kwon-ho said, "I hope other people don't be afraid when they see me and get treated even a day earlier," adding, "After the treatment was over, I realized how many people cared for and helped me."

On the 15th, CP Lee Seung-hoon told OSEN by phone, "After he learned he was ill, he tended to hide more and more. Decisions about surgery or treatment are up to him, but we persuaded him, and the biggest reason Shim Kwon-ho decided to receive treatment was that he thought if he got treated and regained his health, people in similar situations might gain hope. He said that if he could deliver that message, he thought he could muster the courage. With that mindset he is undergoing treatment now."
Choi Seong Kook also said the combination of Yoon Jungsoo, Shim Kwon-ho and Choi Hong-man was as fresh as "The Lord of the Rings." Regarding that combination, CP Lee Seung-hoon said, "Yoon Jungsoo even came to the studio when Shim Kwon-ho's episode was revealed, and because they were friends he asked about his health a lot. After hearing about his condition he first said he wanted to heal him. Choi Hong-man, during a meeting with us, asked if Shim Kwon-ho sunbae was okay and said he lives in Jeju and there are parts that could heal him mentally, so he hoped he would come. Because Yoon Jungsoo and Choi Hong-man are close, the trio was formed."
The chemistry between Shim Kwon-ho and Choi Hong-man was like watching Tom and Jerry. Shim Kwon-ho subdued Choi Hong-man with a charismatic look, and yet Choi Hong-man, unbowed, showed aegyo to make people laugh, which brought smiles. CP Lee Seung-hoon laughed and said, "Shim Kwon-ho and Choi Hong-man are completely different types. They may look completely different physically, but Shim Kwon-ho is the settled type and Choi Hong-man is the playful type. When they first met they said they were opposites, but like opposites attracting, they became much closer after that day. Shim Kwon-ho also said Choi Hong-man is a younger brother he must take care of for life, and Choi Hong-man said he would pay 5,000,000 won as a wedding gift if Shim Kwon-ho gets married."
"Joseon's lover" is categorized as a dating variety show, but by drawing out the inner feelings of many cast members including Shim Kwon-ho's episode, it has the flavor of a human documentary. CP Lee Seung-hoon said, "I think it comes from the title 'lover.' Rather than defining it as a dating show, we think it deals with various love stories. Love can be between men and women, between seniors and juniors as friendship, and if expanded further it can include parent-child love, so we pursue those aspects. Our subtitle is 'accompanying every moment of love,' and I think that can happen because it's not simply a relationship where producers and cast meet for filming, but one that watches over a long time and builds empathy and bonds. The scene of Shim Kwon-ho calmly revealing his inner feelings while looking at the sea was also a question and answer that can be posed from the standpoint of accompanying him. Because the nature of 'Joseon's lover' is a relationship of accompaniment rather than just meeting for filming, I think deeper stories can come out."
