Actor Kim Beom expressed his determination to take on a rom-com for the first time in 20 years through 'Omajin'.
On the 15th afternoon at SBS headquarters in Mok-dong, Yangcheon-gu, Seoul, the press conference for SBS's new Wednesday-Thursday drama Sold Out Again Today was held. The event was attended by actors Ahn Hyo Seop, Chae Won-bin and Kim Beom, along with director Ahn Jong-yeon, who talked about the drama.
Sold Out Again Today (hereinafter "Omajin") is a seasonal romance that delivers excitement directly, unfolding as perfectionist farmer Matthew Lee (aka Mechuri) and perfectionist show host Dam Yejin become entangled day and night, and it raises expectations about what kind of story will be written when people who always do their best at their work and live day by day meet.
Through this work, actor Kim Beom challenges the romantic comedy genre for the first time in his 20-year career. He said, "I avoided saying 20 years because it makes me sound old.." but added, "I unintentionally ended up doing a rom-com for the first time. Maybe I was waiting to meet Sold Out Again Today. It was a genre I lacked confidence in."
Kim Beom said, "Fantasy and genre works have delicate settings that are created within the script, but I think rom-coms are a very delicate genre, so I thought I lacked confidence and avoided them," and added, "When I read the script for this work, so many things were woven into it, and I thought I could make it colorful through what I have."
For Omajin, Kim Beom also showed a visual transformation. He explained, "The hair color is a shade I had been saving for this genre; it's a color called mocha gold, which symbolizes wealth. We tested for a long time to create this color. I mixed several dyes because I wanted a color on screen that East Asians or Koreans don't usually have."
Meanwhile, SBS's Sold Out Again Today will premiere on the 22nd.
