(Following interview ①) The producer of 'Dolsing N Mosol' shared his thoughts on competing in the same time slot with 'Heart Signal 5'.
On the 15th, Kim Jae-hoon, the producer who directed MBC Every1's entertainment program 'Dolsing N Mosol', said in a phone call with OSEN about having to compete in the same time slot with Channel A's flagship dating show 'Heart Signal 5', "I really wondered why. I even wondered if April 14 was Black Day. I was very worried. I thought it was a fight between David and Goliath," he said jokingly, expressing his honest feelings.
However, he said, "I also really like 'Heart Signal 5'. I love dating programs themselves, and especially 'I'm SOLO'—I watch every episode without fail. Because the two programs had a positive influence on me, I think this program could come out as well. I hope both do well. These days people don't just watch live broadcasts but also OTT, so they are not dating programs of the same kind; that show has its own color and we have ours, so I hope each of our colors appeals and both become buzzy," he said with a laugh.
At the same time, Kim Jae-hoon confidently pointed out the differentiating points unique to 'Dolsing N Mosol.' He said, "There are couples you really can't predict. Even when casting, I roughly imagine in my head, 'I think these people will talk,' but then you think, 'Do these people click?'—the usual dating formulas just don't apply. In meetings between divorced women and men who have never dated, it seems the dating formulas don't hold," he said in surprise.
He continued, "Not only in episode 1, but we show a lot of people in a raw state; very honest and very raw emotions come out as they are. Those things act as surprises. Even though it's filming, you'll see the cast really immerse themselves as if in a dating boarding school. You can also see divorced and never-dated people grow. In any case, viewers ultimately have the fun of guessing which couple will emerge. That fun, like other dating shows, you can follow," he said, asking viewers to look forward to it.
'Dolsing N Mosol' is an unconventional-format entertainment program in which divorced women who have bitterly experienced the 'end' of a relationship and men who have never even experienced the 'start' of a relationship as lifelong singles enroll together in a "dating boarding school" to find partners. Starting with its first broadcast on the 14th, it meets viewers every Tuesday at 10 p.m.
