Girl group ifeye is aiming for a spring season song.
ifeye (Kasia, Rahee, Won Hwayeon, Sasha, Taerin, Miyu) will release their third EP As if in full and the music video for the title track Hazy (Daisy) at 6 p.m. on the 15th on various music streaming sites.
ifeye debuted on Apr. 8, 2025, with a name that means "girls who turn imagination into reality." ifeye, the first girl group of Highhat Entertainment produced by famous choreographer RyuD, drew great expectations even before debut, and following their first EP ELRU BLUE, which highlighted "mystery" and "pure chic," they made a comeback on July 16, 100 days after debut, with mini album Wave "Nang" Pt.2 "sweet tang (SWEETTANG)", shedding their mysterious girl image for a more mature and confident presence that left a strong impression.
After achieving a successful debut based on an original concept and outstanding skills, they proved their growth potential through a rapid comeback three months later and a bold concept change. Dubbed "all-center visuals" and "next-generation performance idols," ifeye returned after about nine months with their third EP As if.
As if is an album that began with the two letters meaning "what if," taking as its theme the questions everyone has probably repeated inwardly. It gracefully weaves together a variety of sounds to evoke in our reality the thrilling feeling of love kept only in the heart, fleeting emotions that pass in an instant, and another story that might have unfolded if a different choice had been made.
Below is the ifeye comeback interview Q&A
Q. What did you think when you first heard the new title track Hazy (Daisy)?
Rahee: Because ifeye has looked charismatic and strong in performance from debut until now, when I first heard the title track I worried it might change too much or lose ifeye's unique color. But after recording with our voices and layering the performance, it felt more trendy and a bit hip, so I was glad we didn't lose ifeye's color.
Miyu: I think everyone had the same thought when we first heard it. We probably wondered whether it was too different from previous songs, but after thinking it over, I was excited because I felt we could show another side we hadn't shown before. I was very eager because I thought each part would let us show off our individual personalities.
Q. There are many differentiated aspects from previous songs. I'm curious how you tried to handle that.
Rahee: This time we tried to present a more girlish and lively feeling. Conceptually, visually, and in tone, the album has a girlishness that shows through. The tracks also feel very different, so there are many songs that let us showcase our vocal skills and dance. As a diverse album, it differs in many ways from the previous album. Since this song is easy listening, I think the public will find it comfortable to listen to. It's a song that suits spring, so it would be nice to listen to while driving. You will see a lot of ifeye's dreamy and girlish side in this song.
Won Hwayeon: Our new vocal sides are captured a lot in the tracks on this album. Since these songs were made from stories we directly shared, I think we can show and let you hear voices filled with sincerity and charm.
Q. Within the changed concept, what did you try to do to avoid losing ifeye's identity?
Kasia: Vocally, we tried to create a very dreamy feeling. If you listen to the song, the beat is strong, and we added a lot of rhythmic and hip-hop elements to match that, so we didn't lose ifeye's unique performance. I think we managed to keep ifeye's color. This time there's no performance using hair ties, but there are many killing points that showcase the members' charms well, so the stage should be fun to watch.
Q. With the comeback coinciding with the first anniversary, expectations must be high. How do you think the third EP As if will affect ifeye's future journey?
Rahee: I think this will be an opportunity to make ifeye more known to the public. Our members are all fun and each has different charms. We want to show activities in various areas and achieve our goals for this year. We have a goal to rank high on music charts. Since we've brought a more mainstream-friendly song, I hope we can achieve that goal. In our last promotions we were nominated for first place on music shows. This time we'd like to win a first-place trophy.
Taerin: I want ifeye to come to mind when people think of "spring." It's related to this album. The song "Hazy" fits spring well. It's lively, ticklish, and expresses a girl's fluttering heart, so I want people to think "I should listen to an ifeye song now" whenever spring comes.
Q. Please say a few words to the fans who waited a long time.
Miyu: Fans must have had a hard time waiting so long. We prepared a lot during the long hiatus, so please look forward to seeing our growth. All the songs on this album are good, so I hope you spend this spring with ifeye.
Kasia: Nine months felt longer than expected. Because of that, we really wanted to meet our fans. Since fans waited a long time to see us, we want to repay that waiting. This is an album that can meet expectations, so we hope you enjoy it without regret. It's an album filled with our hearts, so please look forward to it.
Taerin: During the hiatus we and the Ifory often said we missed each other. Now that a new album is out, I hope you look forward to it a lot. We prepared it with lots of affection, so we'll show a prettier side and become an ifeye that Ifory will be proud of.
