The group BTS, back together as a full lineup, was nominated in three institutional sector categories at the American Music Awards, including artist of the year.
According to the list of nominees released by the American Music Awards on the 14th, BTS was nominated in the category of artist of the year, as well as best Namsung K-pop artist and song of the summer.
With this, BTS will compete for artist of the year against nine pop stars including Bad Bunny, Bruno Mars, Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga. They previously won artist of the year in 2021, becoming the first Korean singer to do so.
The American Music Awards is a U.S. popular music awards show that, along with the Billboard Music Awards and the Grammys, is considered one of the three major music awards in the United States.
BTS released their fifth studio album Arirang last month, marking their comeback after 3 years and 9 months. They returned as a full lineup after all members completed military service, and the title track "Swim" entered the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 1 and has remained in the top five for three weeks.
The American Music Awards will be held on May 25 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, U.S.
